All factors that can affect wavelength measurement are compensated for. Continuous calibration with an extremely well characterized internal HeNe laser wavelength standard maintains accuracy over long periods of time. Each set includes a Newport 818-FA adapter and a stainless steel cylinder with 2 retraining rings and 2 positioners. The positioners hold a photodiode (mounted in a 12.3 mm metal package) at an angle that eliminates reflections back into the fiber. The 818-FA screws into the cylinder and the diode leads exit from the back. A second adapter (not included but available from Newport) plugs into the 818-FA to support each type of fiber connector you are using. A diode, marked "43856" is included with each adapter. I haven't been able to find any additional information on it.

With 1980-CDB and 1980A-CD controllers. SN's A318 and C777 respectively. The photometer head SN is A318. The 1980-CDB controller has a high voltage power supply problem but seems to function OK otherwise. The Watts and multiplier readouts on the 1980A-CD controller are blank but the HV power supply puts out -720 or -640 volts depending on the sensitivity range selected. There is also +/- 15 V on the circuit boards. Because of these problems I've cut the price in half for this equipment until I get a chance to repair it.

The thick vertical hash marks just below the horizontal center line on the left side and above the center line on the right side are spaced 0.100’” apart with the two largest hash marks (nearest the center) being spaced exactly 2.0081” apart (according to a label on the plate). The 36 targets are Three Bar USAF 1951 negative on 0.30 x 0.30 x 0.063” thick glass. Each target has 6 groups of horizontal and vertical elements ranging from group 2 through group 7.
